Target deployment
CareOS V3.1.2 currently runs on the facility’s own PC. The product is being designed toward purpose-built med-cart hardware focused on a single job: helping staff document care — without turning the medication cart into another general-purpose device.
Security by architecture
CareOS reduces cloud exposure by keeping the clinical system on the facility’s own computer. Read the full security story →
Clinical work is handled locally on the facility’s own PC rather than routed through a vendor cloud.
Resident data is encrypted at rest on the facility-controlled PC running the current alpha.
No PHI is sent to a CareOS cloud, so there is no CareOS-hosted resident database to breach.
The care team can continue using the local system during an internet outage.

Where it’s headed
CareOS starts with the work directly in front of the med cart. See the full honest roadmap →
Form builder, a ~25-assessment prebuilt library, Change of Condition, and an Admission Wizard — with sign/lock charting integrity.
Progress notes plus POC-style ADL and behavior charting, tied to the care plan — with Risk Management.
One encrypted on-facility database shared across carts, with real backups. The first full stable build.
Questions
No. V3.1.2 runs locally on the facility’s own PC. CareOS is designed for eventual deployment on purpose-built med-cart kiosk hardware, but that hardware is not yet shipping. This site introduces the product; it does not contain resident records or the working clinical system.
Not yet. V3.1.2 is an alpha build in testing at a partner residential-care facility. Its local, encrypted architecture is intentional, but a formal compliance program and legal review would be required before making that claim.
The current workflow is designed for residential-care and board-and-care facilities — anywhere meds are passed and charting is still on paper — with views for administrators, nurses, and caregivers.
